have barely used it. it is an electrick 20 gal air compressor that when i pull the button up all it does is hums.

It shows to be almost full of oil. It is above the red circle

Brian, above the red circle may mean that you have overfilled the oil. Check your manual, and if so, drain off oil so that the level is in the middle of the circle.

Then, drain all the air from the tank, close the drain, and try to start the air compressor again. Anything different? Let me know as a comment here please so I can follow our conversation.

Cheers,

Bill

Humming noise? Most likely your start capacitor is bad.

no air in take

Well there is no air in the tank. I haven't used it in about a year and was trying to sell it. The oil is just inside the red circle and i mean just below the red circle at the top as I have not added any oil since I last used it. I had taken the little plug out for moisture and now after a year i can not find it. And I do know I should of at least turned it on now and then, but at the time I worked over the road and was barely home. Now I am not able to work due to seizures and just decided to sell all of my tools.

If you want to sell it, put a listing on the Buying / Selling page. Make sure you include a photo as I cannot post there without that.
