Compressor oil for a model 2205-80550-13M Gilbarco

by Jack
(Tallmadge, Ohio)

I recently purchased a used Gilbarco, series "O", model 2205-80550-13M. Can you advise if this requires any special oil, or will any compressor oil work? Thanks, in advance for any info you may provide.

... seems to only do fuel station pumps now.

Might be a quincy 310 pump.

Maybe you can start over with some pix?

Gilbarco Model 2341-36010

How does one drain water from a Gilbarco Model 2341-36010 upright air compressor?
50 years old if it's a day and runs like a champ.

Glad to hear it, Jimmy.

If there isn't a drain valve on the bottom of that venerable old compressor tank, then it were mine, I'd be draining the air from the tank with the PRV or the hose with the compressor off, and then trying to remove that big fitting down near the bottom of the tank.

Am I reading correctly and you've run it for years without draining the tank?

Bill

Yes- never been drained. Only used sporadically for tire inflation, blowing out engine compartments and the like in the decade I've had it.

oil comes out of the cap when it runs for a while ?

by matthew robinson
(ocala florida u.s.)

water got in it and now oil comes out of the cap when it runs for awhile
_______________
Matthew, why oil comes out of the oil fill cap is covered on a page linked from the troubleshooting section found on the sitemap page.

You may have overfilled the sump and as the compressor heats up, the oil may expand a bit, become less viscous and is splashing up the fill tube, or you may have so much air blowing by the piston seals into the sump that it's driving oil out of the fill cap, or both.

I'm not quite sure how water in it affects this, nor do I understand how you got water in your air compressor oil???

Cheers,

Bill
