What is wrong with my compressor ??

My 220 volt 5 hp compressor quit on me. I checked the voltage to the compressor motor and I am getting 114 volts on one leg and getting 115 on the other leg.

I replaced the motor with a new one. It does not come on either.

I rechecked the voltage and still getting the same readings. Can u tell me what the problem is ??

Thanks !!

voltage FYI

On a 220 motor, you measure across the two wires, not to ground.

So you'll probably get 229 across, which is good.

Good that you've done the checks you have. There are others, covered in the compressor troubleshooting pages on this site.

Have a look, do the checks, and post your findings here if you wish.
