WHAT are the safety in the air compressor and the air receiver

Bill says...
The pressure switch controls the on and off of the air compressor. When the pressure in the tank and system reaches the cut out pressure level, the pressure switch trips to off, and the compressor stops.
If the pressure switch fails and the air compressor doesn't stop at the normal cut out pressure, the pressure in the tank could rise to dangerous levels. For this reason all compressors have a PRV (see pressure relief valve page for details) that prevents an over-pressurization.
Cheers,
Bill
