i drain my stand up air compressor about 3 times a day, while I'm using it to run a bead blaster. i will run it for about ten mins and the bead blaster will spray WATER through the blasting nozzle! do i need an air dryer for the compressor? i have a really big job on the go and need my compressor running properly, pleases help!
Bill answers...Howdy Tim. Nice to hear from you.
Your blaster uses a ton of compressed air. If you want to know why, click on the Compressor Water button on the navigation bar and read those pages.
Simply put, you're not draining your tank often enough, you may have some condensation occurring in your air line, and you don't seem to have a compressed air line filter installed to take out the free water.
As noted on the pages of the website, air preparation is a continuum. You keep adding equipment until you get your compressed air at the dryness and cleanliness level you need for your application.
If you have no filter at the outlet of your tank, install one, sized appropriately, there.
Did that do the trick?
For a short term (although it might be the most expensive to try) crack open the tank drain valve just a hair so that it bleeds continuously, to see if you get the water out sufficiently that way.
Did that work?
If neither of these do the job, install an auto drain that voids the tank more often, and start looking at air dryers. Information on these are found on this website too.
Cheers,
Bill
