Water in a hydrovanes oil

by Kenan Canalp
(cyprus)

Hello,
My problem is that when my hydrovane rotary compressor works it produces water in its oil. We have tried changing the oil but it does not stop it from doing this. What may our problem be?

Hi Kenan Canalp. Very nice to hear from Cyprus.

If the oil system is vented, warm moist air can be ingested, and that warm air, when it cools, can condense into free water.

That is one of the reasons, I suspect, why a regular oil change is necessary.

You don't indicate the severity of the problem. Is this a recent occurrence (indicating that something has changed) or is the amount of water increasing, also and indicator of changing systems.

It's very difficult to offer reliable or relevant advice on something like this without full info.

I were you, I'd check Hydrovane's website and check out their FAQ or trhouble shooting pages, if they offer that service.

Cheers,

Bill

Hydrovane water in oil
by: Sam Ross

Apparently these compressors are supposed to run a lot and keep the oil very hot to evaporate the water out. When they run for short times water accumulates in the oil from the compression process. I think I read that they are supposed to run for atleast an hour at a time. I am changing my oil every 2 weeks now in the tropics. Always 40% water. Its a long way from the 2000hrs

Impossible to see on the website what could be causing it and the problem I have is no hour meter on the unit so it could be way over due.
No online shop to acquire the two parts I need.
Oil and a new mist oil recovery filter..
Also no manual stating how much oil I should expect to have in the unit.
Measuring the consumption and level change would be too easy with these kinds of data.
