vintage pelton air compressor

I have a vintage pelton air compressor. made in detroit. horizontal tank 10" dia 19" long. single stage powered by 1/4 hp ge motor the square d pressure switch in rated 20 psi on and 40 psi off.

can i replace the pressure switch with a higher rated (psi) one?

does anyone know anything about this unit?

Bernie, you can replace the pressure switch with any one you want. You may, however, create a dangerous situation in so doing, particularly if the switch on it now is the factory one, with the factory settings.

Your Pelton may have, in it's original life, been built as a dental compressor.

Pelton is still around, so why not inquire of them too?
