Viair 275c leak

Hi, I have a Viair compressor 275c and it seems that its blowing air out on the inlet, it was running fine on 150psi and i stopped using it for 3 days, when i turned it on again it took like 30 minutes to charge, when i checked it, I noticed there was a leak coming out from the inlet to the filter. Thanks

Enrique, if by the term inlet you are talking about the compressor head intake port, and the filter you are referring to is the intake port filter, then it sounds to me as though your intake valve is blocked open a bit, or has failed.

When the piston pulls air into the compressor head, the intake valve opens to allow air into the cylinder.

When the piston starts its compression stroke to drive air into the tank, the intake valve should be pushed shut by the compressing air, it stops the newly ingested air from blowing back out the intake port and filter, and the other valve is opened to allow air down into the tank.

If you are feeling air coming out the intake port, likely the valve has an issue. Time to take it apart!

Cheers,

Bill

If air is blowing out the inlet port, and air is not compressing - this could be due to a damaged piston seal. If the compressor has a decent amount of run time on it, contact VIAIR and ask them to take a look at the compressor. During the first year, the inspection is free but requires a return number (RGA). After the first year, a $20 inspection fee applies, plus any parts needed to restore published performance to the unit. For more information: www.viaircorp.com/warranty or call 949/585-0011.
