pressure switch

i recieved a compressor that is pretty old and in dis-repair. it is a craftsman 106.152740 paint sprayer. when i got it the compressor was locked with rust in two of the four cylinders and the pressure switch was taken apart. the original owners had it stop working on them so they took the pressure switch apart and directly wired the morot to the wall. it still did nothing so they threw it away in a dump pile. this is where the water got into two of the cylinders. all they had to do though was reset the motor. i picked it up, reset the motor and the motor works fine, i am in the process of restoring the compressor but cannot figure out where the wires go on the pressure switch. it looks different from all other pressure swithes i have found online. if you could tell me where the wires are supposed to hook up that would be awesome! i do not have the lid or anything else, the picture shows it all.

Hey Preston. Very nice to hear from you.

The pressure switch does two things. It toggles the compressor motor on and off as necessary, and it opens and closes the unloader valve to dump the air trapped over the pistons.

The switch should have a supply line from the tank, and that's normally the pipe that it's sitting on.

I can't tell from the photo how this particular switch interfaces with the unloader valve, but it must.

I also don't know your voltage or HP motor size.

You can replace the pressure switch once you figure out how it gets the air signal from the tank, and how it toggles the unloader valve.

With this info, you can visit your local compressor store to get a new one, along with wiring information.

Cheers,

Bill
