Kellogg 452 Unloader -- Operation?
(milwaukee, wi, usa)
I'm looking for troubleshooting/theory of operation info on a
Kellogg-American Type 452 -- not a knock-off. I have a parts breakdown,
and found a crack in the #76281 CU valve assembly, which I think
sends blow-off signal pressure to the remote blow-off valve.
Here's a link to the fitting picture:
I've had no luck finding an owner/service manual on the internet.
Any help is appreciated.
compair holman 125 builds air but revs hard and does not slow down

it runs and builds air but revs hard and does not slow down any ideas
John, the pressure switch system on your compressor is supposed to sense when the pressure in the tank reaches the normal cut out pressure level.
Since yours is a gas powered air compressor, when the pressure in the tank reaches the cut out level, rather than shutting off a motor, as happens on some electrically powered air compressors, your pressure switch signals the throttle to ease off, reducing the RPM of the gas motor. Then, when air pressure in the tank and system drops to cut in, your throttle valve should have the motor rev back up.
It seems to me that you are experiencing a problem with the pressure switch / throttle valve circuit, and that's best dealt with by a motor mechanic.
