Titan gas powered air compressor is not building more than about 25 PSI?

by Justin Ansley

Similar problem posted by Joe Wilcox below, but I don't see an answer.

My Titan gas powered air compressor is not building more than about 25 p.s.I.

I pulled both heads and the valves, rings, pistons, rods, etc... All look fine.

I can hold the pressure coming straight off the head with my finger, so I know it isn't a check valve or line. Any Ideas??

This really sounds like a blown head gasket...

Still...

Is the engine running fast trying to build to cutoff pressure?

Have you checked the trouble shooting section of the manual?

compressor won't build pressure

Titan gas compressor,
Will build about 25 lbs pressure then spits air out the air intake thru 1 filter. Pulled head and checked the valves and they look good. I had been using the compressor and it idled down when full pressure was reached then this problem started.

Titan Industrial TAC2-T - unloader valve / pressure switch adjustment

by Robert Smith
(San Diego, CA)

I have a Titan Industrial TAC2-T gas powered compressor. I have it hooked up to an 80 gallon tank. Currently the cutout pressure is set at 145 psi but it doesn't cut in until about 90 psi. How do I raise the cut in pressure to at least 125 psi?

Robert, hello. I don't have a lot of info about gas powered air compressors or the Titan Industrial TAC2-T, except that, in theory, they work the same way as electrically powered ones.

A difference is that the pressure switch loads and unloads a throttle adjustment, so that when the pressure in the tank reaches the high pressure cut out, the gas engine is throttled back to idle and, when the pressure in the tank falls to the cut in pressure level, the throttle increases fuel flow to the gas motor so the air compressor can then produce more compressed air.

I have looked at the Titan Industrial TAC2-T manual, which you can download here: titanindustrial.net/manuals/Air Compressor.pdf
and I don't see the adjustment necessary.

Or, you might email: trisha@titanpro.net

and ask for guidance, though I suspect that they will advise you that their compressor is designed to cut in and out as it comes from the factory, and they would resist change.

Good luck.

Bill

How do i adjust the air pressure? TAC 2t
_______________
Are you trying to adjust the air pressure of the air flow to the air tool, or are you trying to adjust the cut out / unload pressure?
