Thomas Air Pac motor bogs down when trying to rebuild pressure

Thomas Air Pac 2 HP

installed #10 wire to box with 30 amp fuse-- nothing else on circuit
New pressure switch
new tank valve
new capacitors

With no pressure in tank, starts, builds to 120, shuts off. When calling for motor to re pressurize motor runs for about 3-4 seconds and stalls to a hum

What to do?

You could check and see if the unloader valve is working?

Dump all the air and start the compressor. Monitor the unloader valve when the compressor cuts out on full charge.

Did the unloader valve work? Add a comment here with an answer, please.

More help for Thomas Air pac
by: Anonymous

The unloader valve purged air for about 10seconds when 120 psi was reached and power switched off.

Upon trying to restart, the motoer bogs down within 2-3 seconds under pressure and will not restart even at 20 psi.

I have to wait for the pressure to reach zero and then it runs fine when I switch the power back on.

If the unloader valve purged for 10 seconds, then there is no more air trapped, I expect.

The next thing I would check would be the start capacitor. I know you said yours is new, but make sure that it is working. See the page on this site for help there.
