THE PRV KEEPS POPING OPEN BEFORE THE PRESSURE CAN BUILD UP

THE PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE KEEPS POPING OPEN BEFORE THE TANK GETS A PROPER CHANCE TO FILL UP WITH AIR. IT HAS A 75 PSI RATING. CAN I MOVE UP TO A 125 PSI AND WILL THAT FIX MY PROBLEM??

Bill says...Hey Matt. Since you sent this question in under the Pressure Switch category, I want to be sure that you understand the difference between a pressure switch and a pressure relief valve?
Assuming you do, if your system can handle 125 PSI pressure, then I can see no reason why you can't use a 125 PSI PRV valve. Though, I have to tell you, it is not usual for a PRV to go off at 125 PSI, let alone 70 PSI, on a typical DIY air compressor.
If your pressure switch is shutting your compressor off at 70 PSI, and it used to shut the compressor off at a higher pressure, then you likely have a failing pressure switch.
Cheers,
Bill
