The motor wont tun unless prompted

if i leave the air compressor together the electric motor wont turn it but if i take the head off and expose the piston chamber the electric motor will turn it.the sticker on the pump says vt470000av.

By removing the head you are eliminating the load, and then the compressor starts.

If the motor won't start without this, I think either you've got a pump problem overloading your motor, or the motor itself has a problem.
