the motor tries to start but stalls and blows the circuit

I replaced the capacitor already. Did not find the exact match, but similar. Same voltage, a little different in the microfarads range.
Any suggestions would be greatly appretiated.
It's an Ingersoll Rand 5HP air compressor.

Hi Monica. You know, there are usually only a few things that prevent a compressor motor from starting properly, and then blowing the electrical circuit when it tries to do so.

One of them is that the capacitor has failed. This doesn't give the motor enough "juice" to fire up when it starts, the motor pulls too many amps from the circuit, and pow, there goes the breaker. You've dealt with that by replacing the capacitor.

Have a look at the other reasons why, won't you? They are on the Troubleshooting page linked from "compressor blow breaker".

Cheers,

Bill
