Tank not repressurizing and tool gauge reads high

by Alan
(League City, TX)

Two problems. First my tank won't repressurize until the pressure drops down to about 60psi. Once it hits about 60 it kicks on like normal and gives a full recharge.

The second problem is that the tool gauge reads a higher pressure than the tank gauge all the time no matter how much I adjust the tool pressure adjuster. I'm thinking I need to replace the pressure switch and maybe the adjuster.Maybe the gauges as well. What do you think?

Thanks for any help.

OK, I'm a bit confused. You say "First my tank won't repressurize until the pressure drops down to about 60psi. Once it hits about 60 it kicks on like normal and gives a full recharge." Is this new? What was the cut in pressure when the compressor was running normally.

As to this "The second problem is that the tool gauge reads a higher pressure than the tank gauge all the time" I suspect that the regulator gauge is broken, or your regulator adjustment knob is somehow disconnected inside.

Please read the pages on this site about how regulators work, and add a comment if you still need help.
