while servicing, drained oil. replaced with 80-90 gear oil gl-5 as called for on panel. oil is foaming and makes relief valve pop off. was told by a tech that we used wrong oil as compressor oil has anti-foaming added.should i use a different oil?

James, I don't know who your "tech" was, so I can't comment on their qualifications or advice.

All I can do is to refer you to the OIL page on this site which has lots of info and a video about compressor oil.
