2005 sullair 160H won't start

by CRIS

My 160H won't start now. It was running great, but now when I flip the switch to run the power comes on for 3 seconds then the power quits.(gauges show power then stops)

If I flip the switch to start real quick it will start and run for 3 seconds and turn off.

For some reason the power goes off to the whole unit.

Please help me.
Thanks CRIS.

CLICK
by: CRIS

Also there is a click when the power shuts off after 3 seconds. It sounds like a relay or solenoid clicking and that must be what is shutting the power off. The same sound is made when I flip the switch to start. Something is telling that thing to turn off.
Any ideas what might be telling it to click off?

Thanks CRIS.

Well, assuming you've verified fluids, then maybe it's temperature related? Cold could be keeping the oil pressure down at the point it is measured.

You could try shorting or disconnecting sensors to see if bypassing lets it run. Do be careful not to run it it for long periods if you find one is bad. Replace it.

When I flip the switch to on everything comes on then 2-3 seconds later I hear a click and all the power shuts off. If I go straight to start the engine will try to start then 2-3 seconds later everything shuts off.

I'm thinking it's a sensor like over temp, low oil pressure, coolant or something like that, that's killing the power.

It ran the day before then the next day it did this.

Thanks CRIS.

not loading ?
by: Doug in s.d.ca

Please clarify -

Are you saying the diesel starts and runs at idle, but when you try to load it, it stops after a few seconds?

Have you done all your maintenance? if so, you may want to re-check it. If not, you may just need to do it.

I have a LS-12 50 hp compressor that won't run

Sullair compressor LS-12

Sullair compressor LS-12

I bought this compressor used and working as a spare for my plant, and it had been recently serviced. It sat around for 8 years and we just hooked it up to try it out before we installed it. We went to bump it to check rotation and it seems like its locked up. The cooling fan runs, but the motor doesn't want to turn. Tried a couple times and tripped a breaker. Could something have happened with it setting for 8 years? Help.

There are a couple of valves and whatnot associated with start-up.

Are you sure you have enough power input and phase?

There is a manual for ls-16 which is probably close to yours. See if you can check some of the things mentioned there. ( http://www.eaircompressorparts.com/LS-16%20Sullair%20Manual.pdf )

Good luck.
