Sullair 10-30 blows oil out of the air intake on shut down

After running my compressor, when I turn it off it blows oil out of the air intake.

Does anyone have any ideas what would cause this?

Inlet valve
by: Carl

Hi,
The problem you have is known as a "lazy inlet valve".

When the compressor is "on load" or making air, the inlet valve is open.

On shutdown (when you press the stop button) it activates the shutdown process, the inlet valve closes, stopping the pressurised oil from shooting up and into the air filter.

If the inlet valve becomes "lazy" over time, it doesn't close quick enough and does the same.

This is also why one of the reasons you should never hit the emergency stop button as normal practice.

Solution. Have your compressor serviced, including an inlet valve service kit.

Hope this helps.

Carl
