Stress relief line.

Do I need to reinstall the stress relief line on my compressor? I changed the pressure switch and the hook-up is not the same. It is a reciprocating compressor, 3 H.P.

Dennis, you don't have to do anything you don't want to do. Of course, the strain relief attachment is there to ensure that the power cord is protected from separating from the switch if it's put under tension.

Set it up anyway you want, but if it were me, I would build some strain relief in, even if it's to make a loop and tape it to the housing so a pull on the cord pulls the tape and not the connection.

Cheers,

Bill

I think that he is talking about the air relief valve that stops the compressor starting against pressure in the feed pipe.
