Starts to build air... for a minute, two, what pressure level in the tank, shuts down how... a bit more info would be useful.

If the pressure is building in the tank, and the unit shuts off (not blowing a fuse) before reaching the normal cut out pressure, and the unloader valve dumps air when the compressor shuts off, then your pressure switch is either set wrong, or is failing.
