I have a ingersoll rand 234 c4 air compressor pump. It wont build pressure because air blows straight out of the pump around the square fitting that is threaded into the round hole in the back of the pump,it has some kind of needle valve in it. What is this fitting a why is it square?

Square hole

Depends on where the "back" is, but I think that might be the pilot valve - which should have a tube running up to the smaller HP piston.

You're saying you have just the hole? Then your pilot valve is missing.

Can you get pictures up somewhere?
