spluttering compresser - eventually just stops

i have a small AS- compresser bought off ebay, it was running fine for a few weeks but now after running for 5 mins or so it will starts to make a clunking noise and splutters and eventually just stops, the compresser also seems quiet warm, can you help please, thanks

I don't recognize your brand of air compressor. The symptoms you relate sound like it could be a valve issue, but terms like "clunking noise" and "splutters" don't mean much to me since I cannot hear them.

What clunks? What splutters? The motor, the pump... difficult to diagnose without more info. What part of the air compressor is warm, the pump? That is normal. The pumps usually run far too hot to touch.

A warm compressor motor is also normal. A too hot to touch motor, on the other hand, indicates a motor problem.
