Speedaire Compressor starts out slow and then starts to picksup to normal.

My Speedaire air compressor (60 gal tank, hard wired 220v supposedly 5 HP motor) starts out running slow for probably less than a minute, then picks up to normal speed.

When pressure switch shut off compressor at 150 psi and after hearing the hiss of air, I removed the tubing from the cylinder head and had no air, which I think would mean the check valve is operating correctly.

Could this be one of the motor capacitor's bad or what other troubleshooting do I need to do? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Charles

capacitor?

Could be a run cap as well. may as well check both while you're in there. Might be a loose connection to the cap.

Speedaire Compressor starts out slow

It were my compressor, I'd check the start capacitor, Charles.

See the page on this site about how to do that.
