Check out the Repairs page and see if any of the companies that offer compressor repairs are located near you. Maybe they can help. Do you know what parts you need? If you breakdown the operation of a basic DIY type compressor, the wear parts are normally.... ~what's inside the piston housing ~electric motor or motor starter ~pressure switch / unloader valve ~check valve into the tank If your problem is with components inside the compressor head...then yes, you are in trouble. Most other items can be changed out for substitutes available today. They might require a little creativity on your part to install them, but it can be done. motor wont kick down were do i start ? Bill tries to answer... The motor won't kick down? Does this mean that it continues running past the high pressure cut-out? That being the case, it suggests that your pressure switch is pooched, as it's the rising pressure in the tank that ultimately trips the pressure switch to shut off the compressor. This is also a dangerous situation, and I wouldn't run my compressor if it were me, until I got this fixed. Or do you mean that the compressor turns off when the pressure reaches the high pressure cut-out, and then won't restart again? That being the case, it suggests that you have a pressure switch problem, or that the electric motor may be being wearing out. That your compressor runs, but doesn't produce air suggests to me that there's a problem in the compressor head. Perhaps piston seals, or some such. Or, though it's running, your motor may not have enough strength to actually compress air. In any case, you can get help from the Speedaire people by clicking on the Speedaire button from the home page, and then following the guides relative to where you are located. I have an old Speedaire compressor, which I would guess is 10-15 gal tank, with a 120v, Dayton 9Y289, 3450 RPM motor with a HP rating of "SPL". Whatever that means. I've been in the throws of wrestling with Microsoft Vista operating system on my new computer, and finally had to junk the whole O.S. Took me almost 1 1/2 weeks to deal with. In any case, the best thing you can do to get parts and repair kits for a Speedaire compressor is to contact your local Grainger or Acklands/Grainger service department. When I spoke with their technical support people recently, they advised that to get details of your Speedaire compressor, you only have to talk to your local Grainger branch.
