speedaire 3z176b started knocking
by Jeff Paye
older speedaire compressor pump model 3z176b- started knocking.
On weekend I disassembled 2nd stage head and cylinder.
Rod broken at piston wrist-pin. Is there a snowball chance in xxxx that I could find one of those rods?
In meantime I need air for my repair garage.
Picked up used 60 gal 2 cyl Sanborn upright.
Compressor is direct plumbed into tank.
Seems like I should have a pressure bleed off and 1-way valve between tank and compressor,, yes? Maybe could use parts from Speedaire.
Typically there would be a check valve at the tank to keep air in when the unloader valve opens on pressure cut out. As to pressure bleed off, if you are speaking of the unloader valve, that my be integral to the pressure switch on this model. If you refer to a PRV, and if the compressor doesn't have one, you do want one on the tank side to ensure that the tank and the compressor are not over-pressurized.
