Speedaire 10 hp compressor

by dwan
(dothan, alabama)

As compressor builds up pressure it starts slowing down. Seems to build pressure fine, just slows down to a crawl sometimes. Seems worse in cold temperature. checked amp draw and found ok. It is not pumping any oil into air line. Help

Hello Dwan:

Something in the compressor drive train is preventing your compressor from running at normal speed as the load against the motor increases as the air pressure in the tank rises.

It could be the check valve that goes into the tank from the compressor head.

It might be a mechanical issue.

It also could be that your motor is wearing out.

I can't diagnose the specific cause from afar. If you haven't the desire or the ability to diagnose these issues, my recommendation is to take your compressor to a repair shop.

Cheers,

Bill
