pressure switch?
by: Doug in s.d.ca

If I understand the OP, this machine continues to run after it reaches 125PSI.

If the pump on yours is a twin cylinder single stage, then yes it should stop at 125 and cut back in at 100. (I like that; gives headroom for 90PSI tools.)

The pressure switch may be adjustable, so you can check that.

You might look at the tank: usually there is something stamped in about the rated and tested pressure. You should either know it is water-proofed inside (no rust from drain) or get it tested.

Speedaire 3Z406 cut out
by: Bill

I was unable to find a manual for the 3Z406.

I don't think that 125 PSI is too high a cut out for this compressor.

However, if you are not comfortable with the cut out, replace the switch with one that has a 120 PSI cut out and a 90 PSI cut in.

This compressor dates back to the 1970's, and as such, I would be questioning the tank integrity if it were mine.
