how accurate can you control the speed of an air cylinder and what is the repaetability.

I am looking at a speed of approximateley 1.00 per second.

Thank you

Hello Jack.

Normally controlling the speed of an air cylinder with a flow control is kin to threading a needle with a pair of gloves on. It's a macro control, not fine, and not repeatable as air is compressible, and that will change the cylinder speed.

Some manufacturers have some very sophisticated air cylinder positioning systems, and they boast some impressive accuracy with good repeatability. The systems are expensive.

Check out the pages on this site about air over oil systems. That should answer your question.

Cheers,

Bill
