Sears air compressor parts - some ring solutions

Hello--

I have an old sear air compressor model number 106 153781 that's in good condition with the exception of a compressor switch. Unfortunately it looks like sears no longer manufacturers a replacement part.
a
Any suggestions?

Regards and thanks
Jamus

Bill answers..

Howdy Jamus...

By compressor switch, do you mean pressure switch?

What about the non-operation of your compressor tells you that it is the pressure switch that's the problem? I'm curious.

In any case, if it is the pressure switch that's failed, with a little bit of mechanical know how you should be able to replace yours with an off-brand switch.

Check out the compressor section of your local hardware or big box store for spare parts, and you should find one there.

I'll be pulling my pressure switch off my home compressor shortly, as I'm making a presentation for this site on how to change one.

Tune back in if you're interested, or send me an email through the contact page, and I'll update you when that slideshow is ready. The same offer goes to anyone else, of course.

Cheers,

Bill

owning a 20+ year old 919.156620
by: RJ

I also own a sears craftsman air compressor. model no. 919.156620 and same thing, I need the whole regulator assembly. Sears parts direct does not carry one anymore. Bought this compressor at the garage sale for $75. Specs are 2HP, 20 Gal. max of 100 psi. 7.8 scfm @ 40 and 6.3 scfm @ 90. and I say it beats any $400-$600 air compressor they sell at home depot or at sears today in terms of it's specs (I think?). I would probably change the air pressure switch too since I notice the unloader valve is leaking air. What could you recommend for the air regulator assembly and the pressure switch?

Bill says...

You don't need a Sears regulator, you just need a regulator. Visit your local compressed air supplier (sells air valves and air cylinders) with your existing regulator, and ask for a comparable replacement.

Glad to hear that you have had success with your "deal"!

If the unloader valve is leaking when the compressor has stopped running, then you need to look at your check valve. See a link on the Valve page.

If your pressure switch is working right, then it ain't broke. Don't mess with it.

Cheers,

Bill

Regulator Bonnet Assembly
by: Harold

I own a 1987 Sears Air Compressor, Model 919156520. Need replacement parts. Sears says they do not stock parts past 20 years. Do you you
know where I might locate and purchase the following spare parts: Regulator Know CAC-346,
Panel Nut CAC345, Adapter H-2101, Regulator Bonnet
Assembly CAC201. If anyone knows who I might contact for these parts, it would be appreciated.

Need motor OR pump rpm for sears 106.153784 2hp

by Dave
(Washington)

I have acquired an old sears pump from a 106.153784, and would like to use it to replace a grenaded cheapo devilbiss pump.

The flywheels are the same size, as are the general size of the pump assembly.

It was brought to my attention though that the old pump may have been run off of a 1725 rpm motor, and my motor is 3450. It is in fantastic shape, and I can make the swap really easy. I just don't want to over spin it, and wind up right back where I started.

Thanks!

motor
by: Doug in s.d.ca

According to sears parts direct, the current replacement for the unit is an A.O. Smith CP1202M 2 HP 115/230 Volt, which is 3450 RPM.

So, your motor is fine.

Need contact points for Pressure switch Sears PART NUMBER: CW-2038

Hi,The contact points in the pressure switch are worn on my fathers Sears Model 106.153541 compressor and they don't have the switch anymore. Please let me know if you have any info. Thank you. Sincerely, Frank

I suspect that you won't have any luck, Frank.

I cannot find any info on your pressure switch or the Sears compressor model 106.153541.

The solution is to replace the switch with another brand that fits the footprint, is the same voltage, similar or adjustable cut in and cut out settings, and one that interfaces with the compressor unloader.

Any brand that meets these requirements will do. It is not necessary to replace a pressure switch with the same brand unless the compressor is still under warranty, in which case, the manufacturer would be on the hook for the new pressure switch.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Richard... you need a motor mechanic for that, and I expect that one will read this posting and comment soon. Outside of my purview.
