Senco PC 2001 starting problem

Senco PC 2001. When turned on motor just hums and if left will pop the motor reset button and/or the house breaker. Took the cover off to get to the Fan(?) and if I quickly spin the fan when turning the compressor on it will run up to pressure. But when I release the air it has the same problem in restarting, blowing the reset button. I hesitate to use it and have the fan exposed so that I can spin the fan to restart when it calls for air..Please help,
Albion.

When you are spinning the fan (and you do want to be careful that you don't lose a coupler of fingers doing it) you are providing an assist to get the motor running.

This suggests to me that your start capacitor isn't functioning correctly, and as a result, your motor doesn't get enough juice to get running, hummmmms, pulls too many amps, and then pops the breaker.

If it were my compressor, and I didn't know how to change the capacitor, I would take it to an electric motor rebuild shop and ask them to test the capacitor(s). My guess it you'll find that one, or both, has failed.

Cheers,

Bill

senco capacitors.

Thanks for the info, Bill. I was hoping it would be something fixable.. Now, who carries capacitors for this type of compressor?.. It is a large white round Ducati 60 Uf +/-5%. Senco is made in Italy.
Thanks again...

It's not just Italian compressors that have parts supply issues, it's all the imports from other countries too. If you can't find a dealer, then find a local electrical motor rebuild shop and see if they can cobble something up for you.

Good luck.
