Sears 1.5hp 3 gal will not pump up

I have a sears 1.5hp 3 gal. It will not pump past 60 psi. it does not dump the air it just continues to run. When you shut it off it does not leak. I have cleaned the regulator. That did not help. Thanks Rod.

Hello Rod.

Yes, that posting is becoming a very common one. The compressor runs up to a certain pressure, and then continues to run, but the needle on the pressure gauge doesn't move any higher.

This is not an issue with the regulator. Here's what the regulator does.

And here are a number of pages that deal with a compressor that won't build pressure.

Cheers,

Bill
