Sanborn Black Max centrifugal unloader

Bill

I am again asking about a Black Max 80 gal 2 stage pump that will not build past 100psi and continues to run.

After my post about about the air pressure coming out of crank case vent I may have misspoke.

From the illustrations I have the air is coming from the centrifugal unloader. Could the centrifugal unloader be the culprit? Thanks in advance.

Sheryle, if the air is bleeding out the unloader all the time the compressor is running, then yes, the unloader might be the culprit.

Yours is an electrically driven air compressor, yes?

Unloader valve
by: Sheryle

Thank you for the response. I am having a heck of a time finding a replacement valve. Appears I will have to order one on line. My NAPA auto parts store has some unloader but none match this one.

Oil fill location and level for older Sanborn?

Oil fill location and level on belt drive compressor

Hello.

I have an upright, two cylinder, belt driven compressor on an older unit Sanborn unit. I am trying to determine how much oil to add. On the pulley side end cover is what appears to be a dipstick / breather.

On the opposite end of the compressor is an 1/8 pipe plug with a 1/4 pipe plug above it. I assume these are drain plug and filler plug. The filler plug appears to be lower than the dipstick. At what place do I add oil and to what level? Thanks for your help.

I, and the many visitors, would be delighted to try and help, but we cannot see your air compressor.

Any chance you could re-post, and upload along with your question some photos of the locations you refer to?

Without seeing it I can't help, though I would expect some Sanborn compressor owners might.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Larry...

No, I don't sell compressor parts or pumps from my site, but I know my advertisers do.

Wander over to the Sanborn air compressor page on this site, for info about how to contact Sanborn. That's probably your best bet.

Cheers,

Bill
