Rotary Screw compressor, pressure not rising?

by KAMI

Hi,

First i want to thank you for helping engineers, technicians and otheres.

Actually,We have a screw type Atlas Copco compressor(Alup) ,that usually give us pressure about 8.2 Atmospher.

Recently we got a problem that pressure not rise over 7.1 and tempressure rise till 110 and alarm system get activated.

Do you think the screws got damaged and need to be replaced or compressor probably have another problem.

The compressor have been in production line about 6 years

Many thanks for your help

All the best

Kami

Hello Kami. It is impossible for me to diagnose a screw issue from an email. There are too many things to observe on site to figure that one out.

What seems clear to me is that your air compressor is undergoing a load increase as the pressure rises, and this load increase is leading to overheating and thermal alarm.

Your only recourse, if you haven't a compressor technician on staff, is to bring in a specialist.

Here are some tips why small compressors won't build pressure. Perhaps this info may help.
