Rigid compressor has low outlet pressure

My rigid twin stack builds pressure. It also shows adequate pressure at the outlet until I attach the hose. Then it drops significantly and very little air will discharge. When I remove the hose, outlet pressure shoots right back up to normal. Any suggestions?

Steve, lets talk a bit about pressure and flow. They are two different things.
If you have 120 PSI in a small air compressor tank, and open a 1/4" hose from the tank, that pressure will drop in seconds as the flow of air out of the tank exceeds the capacity of the air compressor to keep the tank full.
What is it you are trying to run?
Although it is possible that your discharge coupling or your air hose, or your air tool may be imparting a restriction to the air flow from the compressor, my first guess is that you are trying to run a high demand air tool with a too small compressor.
If I'm wrong, post a reply here, and give me details about what you are trying to do with the compressed air supply.
Cheers,
Bill
