67696 air compressor

Item number 67696. 6 gal. 150 psi. Belt is broken

I am attempting to remove the top so I can get into the belt and the screws don't seem to have a head on them that can be accessed by a driver. How do you remove them?

Remove cover

That the screw is loose after turning it counter-clockwise, is it possible that the cover will lift off now that the screw is not attached?

Dumb question, I know. Just want to make sure you've tried removing the cover, and if it still won't release, does it feel like all fasteners are tight, or not?

Maybe a carefully placed mirror and flashlight would let you at least see what the head looks like? Would narrow down the tool possibilities...

Cap Screw

Head seems to spin with 1/4 inch driver on the end of and extension but it doesn't remove the screw. Very frustrating

A pic of the screw (part 514 on drawing) looks like a cap screw, but there's no guarantee that's what's on your particular machine.

You'll need to find long t-handle or extra long allen (probably) wrenches. Or maybe security star bits.

Sorry can't tell you exactly, cause there're variations in these things.

Good luck and let us know when you get it figured out - might help the next guy.

Try hex keys. AKA Allen wrench.

Probably metric.
