Regulator won't hold set pressure

by Brian
(United States of America)

Hi I am wondering if there is a regulator that can take a tank that has about 100-120 psi and only let out 8-10 psi to the application. I need only a slight amount of air pressure (8-10 psi), but it needs to be constant. For example on a normal regulator where the tank has 100 psi and the regulator is set to 8 psi, after a while it will only be letting out 4-5 psi. Is there any self-adjusting regulator.

Thanks in advance,

Yes Brian. You need a better quality or a precision regulator.

The general purpose units that come with most compressors are quite poor quality, and can only hold pressure within a few PSI of the set point.

You will probably have to go to an industrial supply house. One that sells air valves and air cylinders will be able to get you a precision regulator.

You can get one with a pressure range of 0-15 PSI, and if it's a good one, it will hold pressure within +/- 1 PSI.

Cheers,

Bill
