recycling air compressor tanks

how do you recycle air compressor tanks?

I don't believe there is any exotic metals in compressor tanks. Just basic painted steel.

That being the case, if you had enough of them to make a load, your local metal recycler would be pleased to have them I would think.

I know where I live, you show up with a truck full of scrap metal, they weigh you on the way in and again on the way out, and the difference is the load of metal you left behind, and they pay you cash on the barrel head.

Either that or cut them in half and use them for planters??? :-)
