Quincy 1968 QT-5 air compressor - air binding after bleed down

by tom
(charleston , Me.)

I have a 1968 QT-5 air compressor. After the pressure goes below 60psi the compressor tries to start but it is bound up. If I turn the throw switch off and on she kicks in and builds to pressure.Electrical or pressure valve issues?

Tom, when the compressor runs to full pressure and cuts out, does the unloader work?

Or, does the compressor start fine with no air in the tank, but won't start at normal cut in pressure?

quincy 80 GALLON TANK AND 5 HORSE POWER ENGINE

by Gary
(Knoxville Tn)

we are running a 50 amp hobart generator.

We have two Quincy compressors, when the one is running and fills up with air and shuts off. When we release some of the air from the compressor it will not re-start. What is the problem/

Difficult to be sure from here, Gary.

How have you got the two air compressors set up?

When you bleed air off the one that doesn't start, does the pressure get low enough to trip the pressure switch, or is the pressure switch not tripping, and that's why the compressor won't start?

Need more info, please, as a comment here.

Cheers,

Bill

Need to know direction of rotation and the reference point (looking from the front of the compressor or the flywheel)side? Have Counter Clockwise as directon but no idea which side they're referencing. Unit came without flywheel (PTO driven). Thanks.
