PRV and or pressure switch bad?

I have a Devilbiss 80 gallon two stage compressor.

Earlier this year I replaced the 125/140 pressure switch with a new 90/120.

Yesterday during use the prv blasted off and then it would not turn back on.

Today I reinstalled the old pressure switch. It turned on and starting building pressure but the prv blasted off again at about 125.

Did the new pressure switch fail and cause damage to the prv? Or is there something else going on?

PRV issue

When you say "the prv blasted off and then it would not turn back on", are you saying that the PRV cracked open? It requires a manual operation to close the typical PRV.

If the PRV is cracking at 125 PSI, and did not do so before when the cut out pressure was 140 PSI, then I would think that it's the PRV that is the problem.

A pressure switch with a lower cut in and cut out pressure should have no bearing on the PRV at all.
