pressure switch works for a few cycles and then quits.

it will cut in at 80psi then cut out at 120psi for 5-10 cycles.

thenit falls below cut in psi or cuts out at a lower pressure. It repeats this until the pressure range is 40-80 and all the machines in the shop stop

Shawn, from what you have described, it's time for a new pressure switch.

Its One hour old

One hour old or one decade old, from what you have described, the pressure switch is not functionning properly.

They are not a complex device.

Typically a diaphragm in the bottom of the switch moves as the line / tank pressure changes. When the pressure drops in the tank the diaphragm relaxes to allow the switch points to touch, and the motor starts.

When the tank / line pressure increases, this moves the diaphragm slowly until the pressure from the diaphragm forces the points to separate and the compressor motor stops.

If the cut in starting pressure is changing, or if the cut out stopping pressure is changing while the compressor operates, then the switch is not working properly.

Unless it has been wired incorrectly upon installation, I believe the pressure switch is failing.
