Pressure switch problem - not likely, it's a valve I think

I have a Hitachi EC-12. compressor pumps up fine but when it shuts off the unloader valve bleeds back to 60 lbs. and compressor tries to start but still has to much pressure on head to start. I have replaced pressure switch with brand new OEM switch but still have same problem with new switch. My pressure on switch is set at 130-90 lbs. Can you please tell me what i am doing wrong. Unit ran for about 10 years just fine.

John, I don't think you had a pressure switch problem on your air compressor at all. Now, at least, you have a spare! :-)

Please read the page on UNLOADER valves to see perhaps why your air compressor won't start, and CHECK VALVES to learn why your air compressor bleeds down to restart every time it shuts off.

These pages should, I hope, solve your compressor problem.

Cheers,

Bill
