The compresor itself runs fine however it will continue to run whereby causing the pressure relief valve to blow and I have to shut it down manualy. The points in the pressure box are burnt/pitted pretty good and I believe this to be the problem. However I don,t know if I can just purchace the contacts seperatly or if I should replace the entire box??? and where would be best bussiness to make this purchase/what should I expect to pay for the part?

Yes Walter, from the sounds of it your PRESSURE SWITCH is pooched.

Dump the air, pull the power, remove the switch (making sure you label the wires as to where they were originally attached) and take the switch with you to the compressor / hardware store.

Make sure that if the present switch is toggling the unloader valve, that the new one you buy is similar in function.

I'm guessing somewhere between $25 and $50 should get you a new switch.

Cheers,

Bill
