pressure regulator leak

leak around the shaft of the built-in pressure regulator on my 32 year old craftsman 1 hp. Haven't taken it apart yet. Could it be an oring?

Sure Dave, it could be the shaft seal, maybe "O" ring, maybe a different type of seal. I have no way of knowing.

Only 32 years old hmmmm? You just can't buy good product any more!
