Pressure not building on a 3 gallon Craftsman

by Jim
(Michigan)

The compressor runs but builds no pressure.

took the breather off the head and put my finger over the hole while running, still no build up of pressure.

Thought there was too much air coming out of the compressor around the head area so checked all compression fittings, nothing seems to be leaking.

Tweeked the regulator to see if this was the issue.

Thinking I need a valve kit for the heads.

Please advise.

Jim

Hi Jim...

You say "took the breather off the head and put my finger over the hole while running" and that's the clue for me.

If you did not feel air being pulled into the intake port, then my first thought would be the intake valve is gone.

Once you open it up to check that, also check the pressure valve, and you might as well replace the gaskets as they are suspect too.

Cheers,

Bill
