Pressure dropped and won't rise again.

Hi I have a campbell/hausfield pancake compressor.
I was useing it the other day and it was setting idle after it had pressured up. I heard a little pop sound and the motor started. It slowly lost pressure and would not pressure up after that. The motor will run all day, but it will not build pressure. Is it the pressure swtich?
Bill says...Howdy Larry.
Check your
PRV valve. If it's let go, then it's bleeding all the air out as fast as the compressor can compress it.
If it's not that, check for leaks while the compressor is running.
If it was the PRV, why did it pop? Is your compressor over-pressurizing? If it is, then it might be the pressure switch.
If the compressor turns on when the pressure drops, and it's trying to compress air and can't, then that normally isn't the pressure switch.
Cheers,
Bill
