Power supply to a compressor
by Rob Stringer
I just bought a Quincy 5 HP, 230 Volt Single Phase, Model# 251CS80VCB. My home breaker box has a dryer breaker that I don't use anymore,I plan on putting a 50 amp in its place and running a new 8 gage-3 wire 55ft to the compressor in a lean to off my garage.
How does this sound??
Quincy recommend the 50 amp but only a 10 gage,
Rob, it sounds like I wish you were installing my air compressor for me. :-)
As far as I'm concerned, having an abundance of power to an air compressor has no down side. A larger wire than specified has only one drawback - the higher cost.
Thanks for the photos. Excellent. Nice man cave.
