Porter Cable cplc7060v air compressor

I have an Porter Cable cplc7060v Air compressor that my father left me.

At 30 PSI the motor bogs down and trips the reset switch that is on the side of the motor.

He had it hooked to a 60a breaker in his garage so i did the same but it did not help.

I have replaced the check valve with a new one, changed the oil and tightened the belt and it still shuts off at exactly 30 PSI.

Are you able to think of anything else that could stop the air compressor at exactly 30PSI at every start?

I am getting more and more confused by this.

Thank you.

KC

If you are referring to the thermal cutout as the reset switch, then it would be indicative that your air compressor motor is overheating.

Assuming no problems with the pump itself inordinately backloading the motor, then I would suggest you check your motor capacitors.

See the page on this site for help in how to check the compressor motor capacitor.

Cheers,

Bill
