Justin, if the compressor starts without blowing the breaker, and then runs for a while, and then blows the breaker, what is happening with the compressor when the breaker pops? Has it reached cut out pressure?

What is the pressure in the tank when the breaker blows? Is it the same pressure every time?

Your compressor problem might be a pressure switch shorting out, or it might be the motor failing, I can't be certain with the info provided.

Cheers,

Bill

I have the same exact issue
by: Glenn

I have a porter cable air compressor double stack that is doing the exact same thing. with no pressure on it, the compressor will fill to 140 PSI and shut off as normal. After I use it and the compressor kicks back on to fill back up it kicks the breaker. Any suggestions on what is causing this and how to fix it.

Thanks

Wander over to the Valves page, and click the link to the Unloader Valve page. I think this may be what's ailing your machine, at least, it would be the first thing I would check.

the tank builkds to full pressure 140 psi the motor does get a little warm though

When it gets to 140 PSI, does it blow the breaker when it shuts off, or when it tries to start, or at some other time?
