Porter Cable air tank leak

You'll get a host of opinions about this depending on who's blog or website you visit.

This is my .02 worth!

Do not try to repair the tank. Either buy a new tank or replace the compressor. I suspect that the latter will cost you less than the former.

Air leak from pressure adjust assembly on Porter Cable compressor

by Norman
(Ontario Canada)

When I turn on my 150 psi Porter Cable compressor it runs building pressure to 150 psi on both tank and hose side gauges of regulator. Compressor shuts down. Air leaks from regulator and pressure drops on both gauges till comp restarts and builds back up to 150.

Adjusting the regulator control does not change the hose pressure. It stays the same as tank.

Suggestions?

Leak on Porter Cable compressor
by: Bill

If the air is leaking from the pressure regulator, and the downstream pressure is not higher than the upstream (tank side) air pressure, then it's typically a break in the regulator diaphragm that's causing the leak.

If you can find a repair kit do so, if not, the easiest route is to replace the regulator.

Porter Cable compressor leaks after building pressure

Porter Cable 25 gallon 175psi compressor leaks after building pressure

my compressor model number CPFC2TV3525VP-2 builds air pressure but when it turns off the air seems to leak from the pressure switch. I replaced the switch but this did not solve the problem. When I go to turn compressor back on again circuit breaker trips, not sure where it's leaking from or why it won't re-start.

leak?

Sounds like a bad tank check valve from the start...

Does the new switch have an unloader port?

From what you have posted I would suspect that when you replaced the pressure switch it somehow disabled the unloader valve.

In terms of the leak, I suspect you will find that you have a faulty tank check valve.

If you are not sure what these items are or what they do, please see the pages on this site that provide that info.
